안녕하세요! Annyonghaseyo! Hello!
My name is Xen (Zen) and I am the creator of this blog! You probably didn't expect this face to be the one behind the scenes and that's okay! I do not usually put my face just anywhere but I thought that it was important for Kordra Korner. Let me tell you a little about myself!
About Me
My actual name is Xenia and I was born in 1997 and I am the youngest of 3. I am lucky enough that my entire family accepts my love for Korea and Korean Entertainment!
My Hobbies: Playing music (flute, piccolo and piano), Listening to music (all genres, mostly Korean), Playing sports (volleyball, basketball, badminton and dance), Learning Korean, Watching Korean Dramas, Watching My Favorite K-Pop Groups (BTS, GOT7, Monsta X, EXO, etc.)
I have been listening to K-Pop since I was in high school but I finally had the time to truly get into it after college. From K-Pop, I decided to actually start learning Korean. I listen to so much K-Pop that I decided that if I am listening to this I should take true interest in it and learn what they are saying. I have been studying Korean since 2019 . With the help of Korean Dramas and Music, I can speak and write basic Korean.
How Many Korean Dramas Have You Watched?
So far as of March 29, 2020 I have finished 51 Korean Dramas. If you count the ones that I have re-watched then I have finished 55 Korean Dramas. So you can expect a lot of great reviews here! :)
As of August 2021, I have finished 104 Korean Dramas! Woo-hoo!!
You're Black?!
Haha, yes I am a Black, African-American and I love Korean Entertainment :). One of the reasons I decided to post a picture of myself was so that people could see that I am Black. I want to break the stigma of African-Americans not being interested in Asian culture and entertainment. Along with Korean, I watch shows and listen to music in Japanese as well. My love for music and television have no restrictions.
Do you speak Korean?
In addition to watching and listening to Korean Entertainment I am also learning how to speak Korean. Every time I tell people this they ask me "Is your boyfriend Korean?" or just simply "Why?". To these question I reply accordingly, "No, my boyfriend is not Korean." and "Why not.".
I decided that since I am genuinely and truly interested in South Korea and everything that it has to offer that I would learn how to speak their language. Also, one day I want to visit South Korea and when I go I don't want the citizens to feel obligated to speak to me in English, especially if they are uncomfortable with it. I want to be able to have a comfortable conversation with anyone that I come by while visiting.
